Description
Picture a coastal Irish gin that booked a one-way ticket to Hong Kong. That's this. You get the salty, juniper-forward backbone you'd expect from a seaweed gin, then a wave of oolong tea, ginger, star anise and a whisper of cherry blossom rolls in over the top. It's earthy, a little savoury, properly aromatic. Pour it when you want a G&T that makes someone go "wait, what IS that?" Spoiler: it's brilliant.
Taste notes
Nose first: zesty pine and citrus with a floral, earthy thing humming underneath. On the palate juniper leads, then comes a little umami burst (that's the sesame, the tea, the salty sakura doing their work) and a saline lift from its maritime roots. The finish is the kicker, a sticky, sweet warmth of star anise that hangs around like a good story. Savoury, spiced, aromatic. Not your sweet supermarket gin.
